Too often, when we are going through challenging times; find ourselves not being able to participate in activities we once could - due to injury or illness; or busy taking care of the wants/needs of others, hobbies are often set aside. Yet, hobbies are a wonderful tool to  keep us energized, inspired, remain connected with existing friends and present opportunities to make new friends.Too often, when we are going through challenging times; find ourselves not being able to participate in activities we once could - due to
injury or illness; or busy taking care of the wants/needs of others, hobbies are often set aside. Yet, hobbies are a wonderful tool to  keep us energized, inspired, remain connected with existing friends and present opportunities to make new friends.

Depending on the hobby you choose it can help quieten your mind and be relaxing or it can keep you active and mind busy - boosting your mood. While for some picking up an old hobby or finding a new one can be overwhelming it's important to to keep an open mind, give things a try and kick fear/ego to the curb.
If you find yourself saying "all I do is work" then it's time to make time for things that you enjoy. To help you get back into making the most of your leisure time, instead of just mindlessly clicking through Pintrest, Instagram, Facebook, or any other social media outlet (I'm as guilty here); or couch surfing a marathon of Netflix - give these activities a try. Some will peak your interest, while others will have you yawning, some you may have forgotten about and others may be new, but one thing is certain - if you take the time to explore new or rekindle interests, each will help you learn something about yourself.

SIDE NOTE: It's important to remember: while hobbies can turn into your side hustle and perhaps even a full time income generator, when this happens its important to find other activities to help you take a break from work and have some simple fun. I share this from personal experience.

Hobbies can help you find purpose and also help you to enjoy life a little more, because when you are doing something you truly enjoy and take time for yourself you are nurturing YOU!
"it's important to have something enjoyable to look forward to, so mix things up choose hobbies that you can do daily, weekly, monthly, annually or seasonal ..."

Your question made me think of the last time I had fun and I cannot remember anymore. When I graduated from college, I started working right away for my family. With the amount of work I have every single day, it was impossible for me to be able to do things where I would have fun. In fact, it was impossible for me to do things other than work. But before I got sucked into being a workaholic, I used to go ice skating when I want to have fun. I was not very good at it, but it definitely made me happy whenever I get to do it.
