Like many women Maggie had forgotten all about her own self care, she had no downtime, was go-go-go all the time, and was pleasing others before pleasing herself.

She was stretching herself thinner and thinner - and something had to give. Frustrated with flooding, anxiety, insomnia, PMS, fibroids, anaemia and heightened stress, she knew things with her current lifestyle choices had to change. As Maggie made some tough choices, she discovered that having her hormones in balance and getting proper sleep had to become non-negotiable.

Today, she is helping other women  to nurture themselves back to balance, and to get a proper night's sleep.

We are super excited to have Maggie, as part of the Resilientista contributing team, her articles are filled with valuable information to help readers balance their hormones and practice proper sleep habits.

What makes up your morning routine?
I have 2 young children so mornings are family time. The night before I get our water ready. I have a full mason jar and the boys have just a half. By leaving it on the counter, ready to go for the morning, ensures they drink it first thing, and its tepid also. I add half a lemon to mine and that is the first thing I drink in the morning. Then its getting the boys lunches and breakfasts going. After clean up I send them off to school and that is when the rest of my morning begins. I like to plan my day the night before so I have an idea of what I need to get done first and foremost that day, it keeps me on track.

How often ( long) do you meditate?
I do a lot of open eye meditation, while I’m at a stop sign, while I’m enjoying my garden on a sunny day, when I take a moment to be present. I would like to say I meditate for longer daily but that doesn’t always happen, I prefer to be present at multiple times throughout the day and if there is a time when I am by myself, its quiet and I feel I need grounding then I will do a longer meditation. When I’m feeling overwhelmed I take more time to sit quietly and meditate, I tend to feel into what I need at that point in time or for that day and go with that.

What is your #1 NON-negotiable self care activity?
My #1 non-negotiable during the good weather months is to get outside for a daily walk! I love it. I am a huge fan of audio books and this is the perfect time for me to listen, take in and move my body at the same time. I also enjoy my stretching routine on a daily basis. I hadn’t realized how inflexible I was until my trainer went through a routine with me, now its my favourite thing to do.

What is your fav season and why?
My favourite season is summer. I grew up in England so I have very fond memories of my Nana’s and Mother’s gardens full of roses ad beautiful flowers, the summers there were wonderful. I love being outdoors, I love being able to work on a beautiful patio, wear fun clothes with bright colours, walk outside and the sun makes me smile every day, I find it just makes people feel so much better and more relaxed, which we all need more of.

Your go to affirmation?
I personally prefer manifesting to affirmations. I have manifested a number of amazing things in my life and I love that by telling the universe what you want, but not saying exactly how you want it to appear can be very exciting. One of my favourite things to do is say “Universe I am open to receiving income in new and different ways” this allows money to flow into your life in ways you may never have expected. I also enjoy writing down, specifically, what I want in my life and then noting at the bottom “this or something better”. Once you’ve written down your specifics, forget about it, fold the paper up, don’t think about it again, you’ve told the universe what you want, now just let it come to you in the form it will come in - its very interesting.

LOVE this interview.
It's interesting that Maggie doesn't do affirmations. It's also something I have never had much success with.
For me setting an intention works much better for me.
I think it's because when I am saying certain affirmations, my subconscious mind doesn't really believe it. So it has no impact.
