Have a Bath ...
Bathing is not just a form of personal hygiene, it offers many health benefits including: relaxation, soothing aches and pains, increase blood circulation, relieve stress, increase lymph drainage just to list a few. And is a great way to get some "ME Time" in your week. So why not, make having a soothing hot bath part of your self care plan this week?
TIP: Keep your bath time a time without interruption - turn off phones, and if you live with other people, be sure to let them know you will not be available for the next 30 minutes or so. Use your bath time to relax your mind as well as your muscles.
Below are two baths I like to use to maximize the therapeutic value of my bath time. The detox bath helps to aide in the removal of toxins from the body, while the milk bath helps to soothe and moisturize dry skin.
Detox Bath Ritual:
1 cup Himalayan salts, 1 cup of Epsonm salts, 2 cups baking soda, 10 drops of lavender essential oil (or other essential oil of your choice). Add into the bath while the tub is filling.
I like to take this bath either during a New Moon - when the body's ability for detoxification is at it's highest; or on the day of a Full Moon - when the healing process of the body is at its peak as is its absorption potential to absorb the most minerals from the salt bath, activating the body's own energy flow.
3 cups of whole milk
½ cup powdered milk
½ cup raw honey
1 teaspoon almond or coconut oil
10 drops of lavender oil (or essential oil of your choice)
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl just prior to taking a bath. While tub is filling , slowly pour mixture in and ensure it completely dissolves.
I find this a great bath to relieve the dry skin caused by the cold winter season.
